After you can rest peacefully in water over your head, you may wish to become proficient in deep water.
To be eligible, when you arrive you must be peaceful in the middle of deep water in a pool for at least 10 minutes and a graduate of our Essentials 1 (formerly Beginning) course. Most likely you’ll also be a graduate of the Essentials 2 (formerly Next Step) course. It’s okay to re-take Essentials 2 to get ready. Or, reach comfort on your own with with a Tether.
This third course in our series of Core Courses brings you to freedom in any pool, completing our series to achieve Pool Competency.
When you’ve mastered your safety in the deep end of the pool and you can “hang out” there as long as you want, there’s one more level of competency to win: proficiency.
Gain control of doing exactly what you want, when you want to do it. Learn to use the water and your body to pick up the keys you dropped in the deep, find a nose clip, play games, swim along the bottom, do stunts. Go up, down, forward and backward at will. Master your air and your nose. The combination of this course plus Jump Off the Boat produced a class of graduates who can tread water for half an hour in the ocean: they had gotten to know the water and were free.
The 2025 course is double-length as requested by all members of the 2024 course. Perhaps this will become permanent. They asked for the exact same course content with twice as much time to play with it.

Stay where you wish. We have group rates at the Marriott Residence Inn which is almost across the street from the New College pool. Book your group rate for Miracle Swimming Deep Water Play.
Confirm that the dates are correct at that link. It may say Essentials 1. It’s the dates and rate that are important.
If you wish to play with a brick on your own before Deep Water Play or any of our courses, get a brick, BrickHandle, and tether. It’s not required or expected.
